Distinctive Unit Insignia

Description
A gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a blue disc superimposed by a white star edged and detailed gold interlaced with a red annulet inscribed PROVIDE at top and FORWARD at the bottom in gold letters.

Symbolism
Buff (gold) and scarlet are colors traditionally associated with Support units.  Red is symbolic of courage, zeal and vitality, blue signifies loyalty, and gold alludes to high ideals and excellence.  The star denotes excellence and is also associated with Texas, the Lone Star State, the units location.  The annulet is a circle implying unity.  The star and annulet are interlaced to portray the integral part the unit plays in total preparedness.  The configuration of the white star simulates arrowheads emanating from the center out in all directions and recalls the unit mission of area support.  The motto symbolizes the courage and conviction of the unit to provide support as far forward as required.

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was approved effective 16 September 1993.
